3 Steps to Add Temperature Sticker to Your Instagram Story

The Instagram temperature sticker feature is a creative way to set the scene and add context to your stories. For travelers, it can highlight weather at exotic locations.

For businesses, it’s a useful tool for seasonal campaigns, such as promoting cozy winter apparel on chilly days or summer specials when the heat is on. Also, when combined with other Instagram features, the sticker enhances storytelling and relatability, drawing your audience into your world.

In this guide, we will show you how you can add temperature to your Instagram story within less than 2 minutes, troubleshoot common issues, and some creative ways to use this cool feature.

3 Simple Steps to Add Temperature Sticker to Your Instagram Story

Step 1: Access the Story Feature and Add a Photo or Video

Choose a Photo or Video for Your Story

To get started, the first thing you need to do is open the Instagram app on your device. Now, from the home screen, tap on the Your Story icon in the top-left corner. This will open the Stories camera.

Capture a new photo or video or choose one from your gallery. For this guide, let’s use an existing photo.

Step 2: Open the Stickers Menu and Locate the Temperature Sticker

Search for Temperature Stickers

  • After adding your photo or video, look at the top of the screen and tap the Sticker Icon (it looks like a square smiley face).
  • Scroll through the sticker options to find the Temperature Sticker.
  • If you don’t see it among the default stickers, tap the Search Bar at the top. Type Temperature to explore available options, such as temperature bars, emojis, and GIFs.

Step 3: Select and Customize the Sticker, then Publish it

Add the Sticker and Publish Your Story

By now, you will see many types of temperature stickers and GIFs.

    • Choose the temperature option you like, such as a bar or an animated GIF.
    • After that, tap your desired temperature sticker to add it to your story.
    • Once the sticker is added, tap on it using your two fingers to customize its appearance by resizing, rotating, or repositioning it anywhere on your screen.
    • Once you’re happy with your design, tap Your Story to share it with your followers or your close friends list.

And that’s it! Adding the temperature to your Instagram Story is that simple. However, so far we have tried this feature, Instagram does not use your real-time weather data to present the actual temperature of your area, and if you choose a temperature sticker, it does not even allow you to change the temperature.

For instance, as you can see in the picture above, we used a temperature sticker that shows the current temperature is 37 degrees Celsius, which is not the actual temperature in our area, and when we tried to change the number, we could not do it.

We also tried to update location settings so that Instagram allows us to present real-time weather data, but it could not happen as well. That means we have to rely on Instagram’s preset stickers to present our temperature!

But if you’re unable to find the Temperature Sticker on Instagram, don’t worry—this is a common issue that can be resolved with a few simple steps. Let’s talk about them.

Troubleshooting Common Issues: Instagram Temperature Sticker is Missing!

Solving Common Issues While Using Temperature Sticker

a. Ensure Your App is Up-to-Date

Instagram frequently introduces new features and fixes bugs through updates. If the Temperature Sticker is missing, open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, search for Instagram, and check if an update is available. Installing the latest version often resolves such issues.

b. Restart the Instagram App

Sometimes, temporary glitches can prevent features from appearing. Close Instagram completely—remove it from your phone’s recent apps list—and reopen it. This quick step often refreshes the app and restores missing stickers.

c. Check Location Permissions

The Temperature Sticker relies on location data to function. If Instagram doesn’t have access to your location, the sticker won’t appear. On iOS, navigate to Settings > Instagram > Location and select While Using the App. For Android, go to Settings > Apps > Instagram > Permissions and enable Location.

d. Address Regional Limitations

In some areas, the Temperature Sticker may not be available. If this applies to you, consider using a VPN to connect to a supported region. Alternatively, you can add a creative touch to your stories by searching for temperature-related GIFs or stickers in Instagram’s sticker menu.

By addressing these specific issues, you can resolve most problems with the Instagram Temperature Sticker and keep your stories engaging.

Now, let’s talk about how you can leverage this cool Instagram feature to get the maximum out of it.

5 Creative Ways to Use the Instagram Temperature Sticker

Creative Use Cases of Instagram Temperature Stickers

1. Create Seasonal Themes

You can transform your Stories into a seasonal showcase with the Temperature Sticker as the centerpiece. Simply, pair it with visuals that evoke the mood of the season—think snow-covered mountains and hot cocoa mugs for winter or sunlit beaches and vibrant greenery for summer.

For instance, you can add captions like “Winter Wonderland at -5°C” or “Soaking Up the Sun at 30°C” to enhance the narrative.

2. Engage Your Audience with Interactive Stories

You can also turn the Temperature Sticker into a conversation starter. Use Instagram’s interactive tools like polls, quizzes, or questions alongside the sticker. For example:

  • A poll asking, “What’s your ideal summer temperature? 25°C or 35°C?”
  • A quiz prompting followers to guess the temperature in a scenic photo.
This adds an element of fun and encourages more engagement with your Stories.

3. Boost Business Promotions with Weather-Specific Campaigns

If you’re a business, you’re going to love this one. You can use the Temperature Sticker to make your promotions more relatable.

For instance:

  • “Sip on our refreshing lemonade—it’s 37°C out there!”
  • “Stay warm with our winter coats—it’s -12°C today!”

Easily overlay the sticker on product visuals to make them feel more relevant and relatable to your audience.

4. Add Context to Travel Stories

Whether you’re trekking through snowy peaks or lounging in a tropical paradise, the Temperature Sticker can provide your audience with a real sense of your environment. Share photos or videos with captions like “Chasing the Northern Lights at -15°C” or “Basking in Bali’s 32°C Bliss.” This helps your followers immerse themselves in your journey.

5. Leverage the Sticker for Brand Storytelling

This is about using the Temperature Sticker as part of your brand’s overall narrative or storytelling. Here, you focus on creating emotional connections with your audience by incorporating the weather into broader storytelling. For example:

  • Share a story of your team at an outdoor event, showing the live temperature and connecting it to your brand’s experience: “Our team is braving the cold at -5°C for today’s event!”
  • Or talk about your commitment to quality with weather-driven content: “Whether it’s snowing or sunny, our products are made to withstand the elements.”

By creatively integrating the Temperature Sticker, you can craft Stories that not only entertain but also resonate with your audience on a personal and seasonal level.

However, the Temperature Sticker becomes even more impactful when paired with other Instagram tools. By layering features creatively, you can amplify the reach and visual appeal of your Stories.
